When the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic first hit, I spent some time trying to find any good sources of data on its severity over time and between states (and countries). My interest in this faded as case rates decreased and vaccines became available. But now as the Delta variant is working its way through parts of the country these plots have regained some utility. So here are a few that show various metrics for the twelve most populous states. These should update daily, albeit with a data latency derived from the underlying data sources (from CDC and HHS):
